My favorite tree is a mys-tree... (okay, groan, I know...)
Actually, I have many favorites, but I'm gonna go with a gum (Eucalyptus) today. I was watching an Australian/Kiwi show the other day, and I love their look.
I love this idea. My pick? Any type of pine tree.
What a fabulous idea! I'll go with dogwood - but really love any tree I can manage to climb into!

You can disqualify me if you want since I already have your book, but I'd love another copy to give. My favorite tree is a cedar (the kind you find in the Sierra), but the pistachio is a close second.
I love those Sierra cedars, too, Cindy. I know you graciously bought and donated my book to a few of your local school libraries. I'm happy to give you a chance for another copy.
I love the feel of the bark of the ponderosa pine, and the way that its cones are so perfectly symmetrical, and the incredible smell when you're standing in the high desert surrounded by ponderosa pines.

I feel compelled to mention the bristlecone pine, in California, which is one of the oldest living things on the earth. One specific example of the bristlecone dates at about 4,800 years old. The tree has been nicknamed Methuselah, and its exact location is not disclosed by the US forestry service in order to protect it from vandals. If I win, you can donate the book to a school library because I also own it.

The Giving Tree .. okay, just kidding. I love all kinds of trees, but I'm especially fond of the cherry trees in the Japanese Garden.
American Beech...I love how its gray bark glows in afternoon sunlight (especially in April, with the added bonus of wildflowers carpeting the ground beneath beech/maple forests.)
Great contest, Alison! I suppose I should pick an oak tree since I live in Oakland, but I'm going with the eucalyptus, just because I love those twisty trunks.

Wow - I love all trees and plants. I think I'll have to say black spruce, since it reminds me of Northern Ontario where I grew up, and because provides a home for so many other creatures.
My favorite tree is the Brafford Pear tree. They are beautiful.

Hard choice, but I live in the Pine Barrens so I have to go with the Pitch Pine. Love that twisty weathered look.
I have to say the cherry tree from the years I lived in Japan. We also have them here in Washington, D.C. and they always bring back good memories. :-)
My favorite tree is the Quaking Aspen. We don't have any in Vermont, but I remember them from growing up in the west. Lovely!

We baby our paper bark birch. It was planted before I moved into the house over 25 years ago. It is totally out of its zone and needs an excessive amount of water in this dry climate. This beautiful green tree isn't very "green".

I love reading everyone's fav trees. I'm with Nancy-v on trees falling on your house. I can't say I love Doug Firs anymore. I think I have to say Palm Tree, because seeing a palm means I'm on vacation! :)
Copper Beech, without a doubt. Don't see them so much here, but when I lived in England, I adored them.
The Acacia tree is my favorite. I even used it as a middle name for one of my daughters... ( and we just got a package of twenty trees to plant as soon as it gets warm enough. not acacias though...)
